There is still the presence of few biotech companies in Ghana, with the sector still at early stage. Yemaachi Biotechnology remains the most prominent biotech company in Ghana. This biotech company focus on cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Yemaachi launched TACA in partnership with Roche, to generate genomic and clinical data from cancer patients in Africa
Also, the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agriculture Research Institute (BNARI), a public institution, has a Biotechnology Centre (BTC) made up of mainly tissue culture and the molecular biology laboratories. The aim is to carry out research and development in health, agricultural and industrial biotechnology, and nuclear science.
