Important olive oil producers in Spain include Goya en España, Dcoop, Acesur, Aires de Jaén, Aceites ABASA, Finca La Gramanosa, Casas de Hualdo, Molino del Genil, Almazaras de la Subbética, OleoAlmanzora, and Deoleo. These producers are mix of large industrial producers and smaller family-owned, or cooperative mills.
Spain is the world’s largest producer of olive oil (45% of global production), ahead of Italy and Greece. Andalusia is the major growing region (50% of all olive oil production in Spain), but other areas such as Extremadura, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia, the Region of Valencia, Aragón grows olive.
There are about 2.4 million hectare dedicated to 300 million olive trees. They produce 600,000 and 1 million metric tons of olive oil per year, and export 20% of the products.
In the 2024/25 crop year, Spain produced 1.41 million metric tons of olive oil, a significant increase from the 665,800 tons produced in 2022/23 and 852,600 tons in the 2023/24.
Major varieties of olive include Picual, Arbequina, Cornicabra, and Hojiblanca. Emphasis has moved towards premium, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).
