There are so many pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine, with capital investment into pharmaceutical manufacturing tripling in the last 8 years to about 1.85 billion hryvnias yearly. There are 110+ licensed manufacturing pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine. The industry employs 23000 personnel. Ukraine is one of the largest pharmaceutical industries in the Central and Eastern European (CEE).

Though there are many pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine, the rate of pharmaceutical consumption is low compared to other countries like the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia etc. (Ukraineinvest)

The pharma industry suffered from the crisis in 2014-2015, but recovered. However, since the 2022 crisis with Russia, the industry has faced another major challenge.

Darnitsa, Farmak, Arterium, and Zdorovye Group are some of the biggest local pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine. In 2019, Stada Group acquired Biopharma, one of the major pharmaceutical manufacturers in Ukraine.

The association of international pharmaceutical manufacturers, AIPM is an association of 12 foreign pharmaceutical companies with operations in Ukraine.
