The medical technology market in Belgium has a market size of $3.71 billion and is expected to grow to 5.8 per cent between 2021 and 2026. Though there are over 250 medical device companies in Belgium, about 50 are involved in manufacturing products. Around two-thirds of medical device exports are made to other EU countries. Agfa HealthCare and Ion Beam Applications are the major manufacturers.
Since Belgium produces less than 10% of its medical equipment needs, it imports from the US, Germany, France, and the U.K. Imported materials include sutures, orthopaedics & prosthetics radiation apparatus.
