There are many pharmaceutical companies in Sweden, with the country boosting one of the most advanced pharma sector in the Nordic region alongside Denmark. Pharmaceutical exports account for SEK 100 billion, generating a positive net trade of SEK 47 billion. It is the second largest exporting industry in Sweden in 2021.
Many foreign pharmaceutical companies have their production facilities and offices in Sweden. Astrazeneca has a production facility in Södertälje that produces 14 billion tablets yearly for exports to 100 countries. They are the largest exporting pharmaceutical company in Sweden in 2021.
Other pharmaceutical companies in Sweden with huge production capacity are Pfizer, with a production facility in Strängnäs, Johnson & Johnson with a production facility in Helsingborg, Cytiva has in Uppsala, NorthX Biologics in Matfors, and Octapharma on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.
