There are many pharmaceutical companies in Finland, and they provide jobs for about 5 400 experts. Pharma Industry Finland (PIF) is an organisation that has 40 members representing most of the pharmaceutical companies in Finland.
The Finnish Medicine Agency gives license for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products in Finland, and the licensing of products. Finland has been investing heavily in the pharma industry, especially in research and development.
According to the International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, published in June 2022, Finland accounts for 1.3% of European pharmaceutical sales in Europe. In 2020, they imported USD 2.46 billion in pharmaceutical products, and exported USD 978 million worth of pharmaceuticals.
