Medical devices and equipment are regulated through the Medical Device Department (MDD) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana. A valid license is required to manufacture or import any medical device in Ghana. Registration of the product is also required.
There is a limited manufacturing of medical devices in Ghana, with almost 85% of the equipment imported by lab and medical equipment suppliers in Ghana. The medical device sector is set to generate a revenue of US$122.30m in 2024, with a surge in demands for advanced diagnostic equipment.
