The country is one of the European countries with heavy spending in R&D with 335.7 euros ($391.1) per capita, 26% more than Denmark, the second in Europe. This is 10% of pharmaceutical R&D investment in Europe.
Belgium has many clinical trial facilities in Europe, with 503 approved facilities in 2020.
