The Russian government has improved the health technology sector, increasing the number of medical device/equipment manufacturers in Russia. The country imports diagnostic imaging, consumables, orthopaedics & prosthetics, dental products, and patient aids from the US, China, and the EU.
Russian Medical Device Registration:
All medical devices must be registered before they are used in Russia. Roszdravnadzor (Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare of the Russian Federation), a body under the Ministry of Health regulates medical devices in the Russian Federation. The registration of medical devices is done by the Medical Device Registration and Control Department of the agency. This department can approve or reject any medical device. Approved medical devices are issued with the Registration Certificate.
All medical devices in Russia are classified into I, IIa, IIb, and III depending on the risk.
