There are a growing number of pharmaceutical companies in the United Arab Emirates, a country in the Arabian Peninsula. It is a federation of seven emirates – Abu Dubai, Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah. The growth is because of favorable government policies towards foreign investment and political stability. UAE is becoming one of the biggest players in the pharma sector in the Middle East alongside Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
There are 23 pharmaceutical companies in the United Arab Emirates that manufactures drugs. This is a tremendous growth from the four manufacturing units in 2010. 14 of those pharma produce human medicines, four specialises in medical devices, while two manufactures disinfectants. A big number of the pharmaceutical companies in the UAE are not manufacturers, but major pharmaceutical distributors of medicines, medical equipments.
The pharmaceutical sector in the UAE is valued at 3.7 billion dollars, with 11 pharmaceutical multinationals, such as Pfizer, Roche, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson and Johnson, Astrazeneca, Sanofi currently operating in the country. UAE exports some of its locally produced drugs to 48 countries.
The country relies on imported drugs but plans to boost local manufacturing of drugs to $297 million in 2025. There is also a plan to establish a biopharmaceutical manufacturing campus in the UAE. Pharma companies in Dubai make the largest number of pharmaceutical companies in the UAE.

As already mentioned, Dubai has the biggest pharmaceutical company presence in the UAE. There are few companies in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi.
