Juhel Nigeria Ltd, located in Emene, Enugu, is one of the pioneer pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Nigeria and West Africa. The company which was established in 1987 now has over 1000 staffs with two factories located in Enugu and Anambra.

The Oral Medicine Manufacturing Plant in Emene, Enugu, manufactures tablets, syrups, antibiotics capsules, plastic bottles, bottled waters and beverages.

The large state of the art parenteral manufacturing plant in Awka, Anambra produces intravenous medications, sterile water for injections, ear drops and eye drops. The unit is the largest manufacturer of quality blow-fill-seal (BFS) aseptically manufactured intravenous fluid in West Africa.

They utilize a blow-fill-seal (BFS) technology which involve using the BFS machine to carry out tasks like blowing the bottle, filling with polyethylene and moving to conveyor belt to seal.

Brief History

Juhel is a private pharmaceutical company that started in 1987 with the RC: 104648. It was established to reduce the dependence on costly imported generics medicines, and increasing availability through local production. It was commissioned in 1989, as the first pharmaceutical tablet manufacturing company in the Old Anambra state.

Juhel Nigeria Limited was founded by Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, mni, a PhD holder in pharmaceutical technology. He is the current CEO.

Product Line

Juhel Nigeria Limited has over 150 products and formulations covering different therapeutic classes in their portfolio. Their formulations include parenteral and intravenous infusions, tablets, and syrups.

At the inception, the parenteral manufacturing unit was the largest parenteral drug manufacturing plant in West Africa.

It is the first company in Africa to collaborate with the United States Pharmacopeia to manufacture cold-chain Oxytocin and Magnesium Sulphate to help curb afterbirth bleeding and maternal death.

The company has also ventured into the production of bottled waters (Ivy Table Water).
